So one day I found myself to be at Festival Walk for a work lunch, the restaurant of choice was Dan Ryan’s. I have only been to Dan Ryan’s once – and that was at Pacific Place for a drink – so I didn’t really know what’s in store for me.
I do like the ambiance at Dan Ryan’s. The whole upscale, American diner yet laid back experience was something that I could sink into, with its cozy counter seats and warm lighting.
And so to the food. My guest was somewhat an expert of the menu, and she recommended the set lunch of BBQ half chicken and beef vegetable soup.
I heart the soup. The broth was clear and delicious, with chunks of soft yet lean beef meat. It went well with the side of bread and butter (though the former could be served warm, methinks).
And then to the chicken. When they put the warning on the menu that their food is served as American’s portion, they weren’t kidding. Though it was supposed to be a half BBQ chicken, for me it easily the size of one and I couldn’t finish the whole thing. Which is a pity, because the BBQ chicken were roasted perfectly, juicy and tender with a smoky aftertaste that I really enjoyed dipping into the side sauce.
For HK$100+ per person, Dan Ryan’s set lunch certainly lived up to its mission to serve great American food at a price that diners would find great. I would return again the next time I am at Festival Walk!
