The One With Spasso Brunch – Stunning Sunday Feast

Recently we went to Spasso for brunch at its new location at Tsim Sha Tsui East. It was Maureen’s choice and honestly there can only be that many weekends one can spend at bar & grill, good as they may be.

It was proven to be an excellent choice. It was a sunny morning, and the place was already buzzing with large groups and families. Spasso’s brunch is served from 11:30am through 3:30pm and is priced according to the choice of main course.

But first off, let’s look at their buffet line first, which comprises of Italian selections and international favorites. The seafood counter was the best of all the buffet sections, in my opinion – a fresh pile of shucked oysters, Boston lobster, yabbies, mussels, shrimps, and sushi and sashimi.

No Italian brunch would be complete without an antipasti table. At Spasso, one can choose from caprese salad, artichokes, grilled vegetables, regional cheeses, cold cuts and carpaccio. I piled on the grilled mushrooms and asparagus simply to balance off what was to come next – the hot food section. Lovingly called the carvery and pizza station, the table was groaning with beef, lamb, pork, turkey and lamb, plus a variety of hand tossed pizzas.

When you are done with the buffet, a main course can then be chosen off the menu. Diners have the choice of five dishes that include a risotto, a pasta, a meat, a fish, or the chef signature, usually a steak (pictured above).

By the end of the meal – fueled by an endless refill of Prosecco – we were filled to the brim but just couldn’t say no to dessert. For a table of eight, two large wooden basins were delivered to our table filled with ice creams, small tasting desserts and fresh fruits.

What a delightful way to spend a Sunday!

(And then we went next door for some afternoon beer. Yes, we were bottomless that way!)
